Gucci’s creative director Frida Gianini’s has designed bags for the label long before she got the tops position. The collegiate feel of Gucci’s Spring ‘09 bags is very interesting. Probably, it’s a trip down memory lane for the designer. Still, Gucci manages to be a major influence in accessory trends.
The accessory collection’s two main styles are the huge shoulder ‘book’ bags and leather backpacks.
Gianini opted for a variety for Gucci’s Spring ‘09 bags: leather, exotic (think snakeskin), etc.
The shoulder bags are big enough to hold a laptop. Most of them have a stitching detail lining the bottom all the way up to the handles. The bags have a detachable shoulder strap and tassels on the side. The shoulder bags come in a variety of colors such as brown, red, and turquoise.
The backpacks are quite petite and can be worn as a handbag simply by toying with the metal hardwares. The bag has one main zip compartment and two zip pockets in front. Available in blue, black and exotic.
